Prize Wisdom highly and exalt her,
and she will exalt and promote you;
she will bring you to honor when you embrace her.
She shall give to your head a WREATH of gracefulness;
 a crown of beauty and glory will she deliver to you.
10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings,
 and the years of your life shall be many.

Welcome to Digi Desserts Fridaze in connection with My Paper Crafting !    We, on the Design Team, are to create a project using a Digital File from the vast selection at MyPaperCrafting.com every Friday, share them with You and encourage You to visit over there, get the FREE Digi File for today, make a project with it and link it for all to see.  The ‘winning’ designer is highlighted next week as a Guest Designer!   It’s an easy and fun thing to do on the weekend!

For this week’s project I used the Free File offered last week on the TotallyTags and ATCs post on MyPaperCrafting.  There are usually Vintage Digi Files offered on Thursdays and I just LOVE using them on my projects and giving them ‘An Elegant Touch…’!  There are usually several ‘color options’ in each file, allowing for a vast amount of creativity along that line and sometimes I also put them in my FREE “Perfect Effects Free” program which offers even more color shading availability.  This time I used one that Melin offered last week. - 'Wreath 523 VG.'   I made a card which can be used for any occasion and can also be ‘free standing’ for display, if desired, and is in keeping with this week’s theme of ‘Pearls.’

Card - closed

Card - open

Card - showing depth of folds

*  I began with a base of 4 ¼ ” x 11” Cream cardstock.  I scored and folded at 2” and 3 3/8” from each edge.  Valley/mountain fold to make the center section ‘pop’ to the front when opened.  (It could also be made to recede inward, if desired.)  It fits into an A2 envelope.

*  I punched 2 border edges from Cream cardstock and lightly inked with Wheat ink.  I adhered them to the outer sections.  I added a piece of brown ribbon to the bottom edge.

*  I cut a piece of 4” Cream cardstock – embossed it with my ‘Wicker’ embossing folder -  then lightly inked with Wheat – and adhered it to the front section.

*  I put the Digi into my ‘Perfect Effects Free’ program and I used the Actions – Sepia Toner and Warm Concrete Subtle – to get the color I desired for this project.  I then put it into my PSE 10 program and printed it 8 to a page.  I plan to make several different types of cards with all of them.

*  For this one, I fussy-cut the wreath out.  I adhered the wreath with foam pads to raise it off the base.

Close-up of Wreath

Close-up of elements on wreath

*  I was excited to learn last week that I had WON the Giveaway from a Blog Hop I ‘attended’ a couple weeks ago!!  The Prize was a Spellbinders ‘Shapabilities’ Die package with 7 pieces!!  I used one of them for this – a flourish.  I cut one in dark brown dotted paper and then one in Kraft cardstock and intertwined them.  (I have learned that by using a piece of Wax Paper between the Die and your paper/cardstock, it is much easier to remove the completed element!!)  I punched some little MS branches and added them.  I was excited to find some tiny resin roses on Clearance at Michaels this week and used a Cream one for this.  I saw recently how to make TINY flower buds by punching tiny ¼” punch circles of paper/cardstock and using a tiny embossing head and foam mat to make tiny ruffled buds.  I added tiny pearls to them.

*  I was also excited to see that MS punches were on Sale this week at Michaels and I got the ‘tiny butterflies’ and ‘tiny hearts’ punches – which I know I’ll use often!  I used the tiny butterflies – cut from Cream cardstock and inked with Wheat - on this card and added tiny pearls to each of them for the bodies.

Tag: Pearls!

Or the kingdom of heaven is like a jeweler
on the lookout for the finest PEARLS.
When he found a pearl more beautiful and valuable
 than any jewel he had ever seen,
 the jeweler sold all he had and bought that PEARL,
 his PEARL OF GREAT PRICE.

Welcome to Thursday Totally Tags ‘n’ ATCs over at MyPaperCrafting.com!  Every Thursday we on the Design Team do a team post featuring Tags n' ATC's.  We have a specific Theme each week featuring an element, technique or embellishment.  We all come up with something excitingly different – using various types of tools, etc. to create our projects...i.e., Cricut, CAMEO, Spellbinders, punches, stamps, paint, material, lace, inks, etc.   The sky's the limit!  The only restriction...  If we use SVG's or Digi's, we will only use those from the vast selection at PCW.  There are some changes coming for the next few summer months, so please keep track of things by visiting Melin’s blog – and checking back here often.  I’ll let You know, when I know how things will work out.

The Theme for this week’s projects is PEARLS!  I used light and airy Spring colors – Cream and Sage green.

As I did last week, I made a larger Tag – one that fits in a #10/Business-size envelope, so it can possibly be used as a Card and not just as a Tag on a gift.  I began with a 3 ¾” x 8 ½” piece of Sage cardstock for the base.  I then cut a piece of Cream cardstock (3 ½” wide) and used a MS punch on each long side of it – mirroring the punches, so both sides were identical in pattern.  I also punched once across one of the ends.  I used a corner-rounder on all 4 corners of both pieces.  I lightly inked the Cream cardstock with Sage ink – and also the edges of the Sage cardstock.  I cut a piece of cream cardstock to fit in the middle of the Tag.  I used a border embossing folder – the Wicker pattern – and then lightly inked it, so the embossing was more prominent.  I then added Sage green pearls to the embossed piece.  I adhered that piece with foam pieces to raise it up.  I added a Sage green bow to the top.  There is plenty of room to include a sentiment and personal note on the back.

Flower in Vase - 'Thanks so much' Card

Give THANKS to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

I ripped cardstock in coordinating colors to use as mats.  I adhered them each with foam pads to make each layer raised from the one underneath.  I punched the edge of a white cardstock card.  I adhered a piece of olive green cardstock underneath the punched edge.   I stamped the sentiment ('Thanks so much') in olive green ink.  I added golden yellow gems to the flower centers in the punched edge.

The Theme for this week’s projects is PINK!  I used the papers for these two Tags on the card I made for Tuesday’s post and really liked how they went together, so I decided to use them again here.  I made Two rather than the One ‘required,’ as after making the first one, I saw the possibilities of using the ‘negative cuts’ from the cutting file on that one.  Here they are  - with comments following –

*  I cut the tags from white cardstock and then the next layer from the Pink prints.  I used the new ‘Tag Ornamental cf.’  For the top layer, I also used that file, and cut it from white cardstock.  I inked the edges of all pieces with Mauve ink.  I also inked the centers of the motifs for depth.  I added rhinestone gems and pearls and a white picot-edged satin ribbon to the top.

*  While taking the cut design off of the CAMEO mat, I noticed that the ‘negative cuts’ could be used for a ‘Royal’ motif – so I made a second Tag using them!  I adhered several pieces to accentuate and enhance the ‘crown’ shape.  I added small rhinestones and pearls.  I inked the pearls with Mauve ink and I stamped the Flourish in Mauve on an angle at the top.  I added a ‘2-tone white’ sheer ribbon to the top.  Can you see where the pieces came from?

'Missing You' Pink/Lace Card

It was also called Mizpah, because he said,
“May the Lord keep watch
between you and me
when we are away from each other."
Genesis 31 :49

Welcome to our 2013 Die Cut Tuesday New Release and Link Up over at www.MyPaperCrafting.com !  Be sure and pop over there and see what Melin and our other Designers have set up for this Showcase – and the FREE New Release for today.

Spring is a time of "new beginnings" and we love to see things "take root, blossom and grow”....so, we decided it was a good time to announce some changes to our Challenges and Link Ups.  Here is the link to Melin’s explanation of how things will work now.  Be sure to pop over there and be included in the creative fun!    http://www.mypapercrafting.com/2013/04/aprilprizes.html

For today’s project I made a ‘new-to-me’ fold of a card – similar to one which I noticed on Pinterest – but I only used the ‘basic idea’ and mine is totally different.  I enjoyed creating an unusual ‘tie-close’ card in Pinks, as that seems to be the color for this week’s projects at MPC.  Here it is –

*  I used white cardstock for the base of the card, the Doily I cut using a Spellbinders die that I recently treated myself with and the ‘Corner Flourish’ cutting file from MPC.  I inked the Doily and Flourish with a Mauve ink that matched the print papers that I cut for the front and inside panels.  I cut the front on angle and punched it with a lacy MS punch.  I inked that edge, also.

*  I adhered a thin satin ribbon to the front on top of the Doily and under the print paper  - also adhering it to the back of the card – enough to allow for it to tie into a bow to close the card.

*  I stamped a Flourish on the inside of the card, as well as the ‘missing you’ sentiment – both in Mauve ink, producing a subtle tone.

*  I adhered pearls to the Flourish and Doily.

This is the file I used –

'Flowers in Vase' All-Occasion Card

The grass withers, the FLOWER fades;
    nothing lasts except the word of our God.
It will stand forever.
Isaiah 40 : 8

I first printed the Digi on white cardstock and although it gave it a soft muted effect, I decided to print it on photo paper and see if it made any difference.  It did.  It is much clearer and brighter and I decided to use that print on this card and use bright jewel-toned papers with it.  (I’ll use the ‘muted’ one for another project I have in mind sometime.)  I used an Oval Coluzzle to cut the Digi and a frame of deep purple cardstock to mirror the flower color.  I adhered that to a piece of mottled gold which highlights the flower centers.  I then adhered the deep olive green ‘negative’ of a frame file that I had used for the ‘Spring Bunch Easel Card’ recently.  I cut a piece of black cardstock – punched the edges with a Lace punch – in keeping with this week’s Theme on the MPC blog posts – and mounted the other layers on that.  I then adhered all of that on a white cardstock card.  I then added a black satin Double Bow and some tiny pearls to the card.  I did not add a sentiment so that it might be used for any number of occasions.  I might add an inside sentiment – or just include a handwritten note when I give it.

Tag: Use LACE!

And thou shalt put it on a blue silk LACE,
 and it shall be upon the mitre,
 even upon the forefront of the mitre shall it be.
Exodus 28 : 37  (GNV)

Welcome to Thursday Totally Tags ‘n’ ATCs over at MyPaperCrafting.com!  Every Thursday we on the Design Team will do a team post featuring Tags n' ATC's.  We will have a specific Theme each week featuring an element, technique or embellishment.  We’ll all come up with something excitingly different – using various types of tools, etc. to create our projects...i.e., Cricut, CAMEO, Spellbinders, punches, stamps, paint, material, lace, inks, etc.   The sky's the limit!  The only restriction...  If we use SVG's or Digi's, we will only use those from the vast selection at PCW.

The Theme for this week’s projects is ‘LACE.’  I LOVE lace in all manner of ways – in, on, under, showing, not showing, even in cooking sometimes (Lacey Praline Cookies!) – I’m just a Lacy, Feminine Gal and always have been!  Making a Tag which incorporated Lace was a Treat and no problem for me -  ;-}   (Hahh!  Until I started working on it! )  Ideas have been swarming my brain and I knew the minute I saw one of Melin’s newest cutting files that I wanted to use it for this, I knew the colors I wanted to use and then when I looked for a relevant Verse to use at the beginning – something which I attempt to do for each post I’ve ever written – and I discovered the one above, I knew it was all going be all right.  There were some ‘technical difficulties,’ but I Persevered (my ‘WORD for 2013’) and am pleased with the final outcome.

*  I used two of the three layers in the file for the tag itself – the taupe Lacey layer - and the light blue inset layer.  I stamped the inset with a lace stamp inked with ‘Beige Opalescent’ ink and I inked the edges, also.  You can see the glimmer of the ink in this photo.

*  The large flower, tiny flowers, leaves and sprigs are punched and formed with an embossing tool.  The large flower center is a rolled rose made from light blue lace hem tape.  I added pearls to all flower centers.

*  I made a double bow from the hem tape and adhered it to the top.  I added a twine loop to the top of the tag.  I can add a sentiment to the back side at a later time, depending on what and who I decide to give it to.
