Welcome to Thursday Totally Tags ‘n’ ATCs over at MyPaperCrafting.com!  Every Thursday we on the Design Team will do a team post featuring Tags n' ATC's.  We will have a specific Theme each week featuring an element, technique or embellishment.  We’ll all come up with something excitingly different – using various types of tools, etc. to create our projects...i.e., Cricut, CAMEO, Spellbinders, punches, stamps, paint, material, lace, inks, etc.   The sky's the limit!  The only restriction...  If we use SVG's or Digi's, we will only use those from the vast selection at PCW.

Spring is a time of "new beginnings" and we love to see things "take root, blossom and grow”....so, we decided it was a good time to announce some changes to our Challenges and Link Ups.  Here is the link to Melin’s explanation of how things will work now.  Be sure to pop over there and be included in the creative fun!    http://www.mypapercrafting.com/2013/04/aprilprizes.html

The Theme for this week’s projects is PINK!  I used the papers for these two Tags on the card I made for Tuesday’s post and really liked how they went together, so I decided to use them again here.  I made Two rather than the One ‘required,’ as after making the first one, I saw the possibilities of using the ‘negative cuts’ from the cutting file on that one.  Here they are  - with comments following –

*  I cut the tags from white cardstock and then the next layer from the Pink prints.  I used the new ‘Tag Ornamental cf.’  For the top layer, I also used that file, and cut it from white cardstock.  I inked the edges of all pieces with Mauve ink.  I also inked the centers of the motifs for depth.  I added rhinestone gems and pearls and a white picot-edged satin ribbon to the top.

*  While taking the cut design off of the CAMEO mat, I noticed that the ‘negative cuts’ could be used for a ‘Royal’ motif – so I made a second Tag using them!  I adhered several pieces to accentuate and enhance the ‘crown’ shape.  I added small rhinestones and pearls.  I inked the pearls with Mauve ink and I stamped the Flourish in Mauve on an angle at the top.  I added a ‘2-tone white’ sheer ribbon to the top.  Can you see where the pieces came from?

Here is the file I used -

Tag: Twine - Thank You SEW very much!

The Theme for this week’s projects is TWINE!  As I have been sewing since I was about 9 – back in the Pre-Paleolithic Era ! – I thought I’d use that aspect in combination with my paper-crafting this week.  I made a ‘spool of thread’ Tag – with the Twine representing the thread.  Here it is –

*  I cut two of the spool shape .svg from cream parchment cardstock, a file which I’ve had for ages and I don’t know from whence it came.  I wrapped Taupe/WhiteTwine around one piece and then adhered the other piece to the back of it, so there is a place to write a note on the back.

*  I used the ‘5 pt. Flower’ from the MPC ‘Birdcage and Flower set cf’ for the focal point flower.  It’s cut from cream cardstock and the edges were inked in light blue.  The center is dark brown (Daisy Punch) with a gold brad.

*  I made a beige Rolled Rose from lace hem binding and added a light blue gem to the center.

*  The flowers are laid on a bed of (MS) punched leaves and branches cut from hunter green/white polka dot paper.

*  I printed the sentiment in dark brown on light blue cardstock – using the ‘Heart Sweet Heart’ font (Cross-stitch).  I used ‘Thank You SEW very much!’  Other choices I had in my list of possibilities were:
**  You are SEW thoughtful!
**  I am SEW Thankful for You!
**  I love You SEW much!

*  I added some strands of the twine in the hole of the spool and tied them.

Tag: 'Purple' - Floral Spray and Butterfly

Who can find a virtuous woman? -
For her price is far above rubies…
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry;
her clothing is silk and PURPLE.
Psalm 31 : 10 & 22

Welcome to the recently added Thursday Totally Tags ‘n’ ATCs over at MyPaperCrafting.com!  Every Thursday we on the Design Team will begin doing a team post featuring Tags n' ATC's.

The Theme for this week’s projects is ‘Purple’ – which is my FAVORITE color (actually, Lavender is my Favorite shade of Purple!), so it was a Pleasure for me to work on it!  I used several of Melin’s files and here is how it turned out –

*  I recently acquired some Gorgeous deep, rich purple cardstock – Aubergine, actually – which I used for the base of the Tag and for the tiny punched flowers.  I used this file for the Tag – ‘Frame Ornate 13a Set cf’

*  I embossed the base with a Wicker Weave folder.  I embossed the frame with a Woodgrain folder and then lightly inked it with Dusty Concord.  Both were embossed in my Cuttlebug.

*  I used the Flourish from this file and cut it from Sage cardstock – ‘Cross v13 cf’ -

* I adhered a piece of Cream lace to the bottom of the Frame.
*  I made Ribbon Roses in 2 sizes using Cream ribbon.
            **  Cut/punch a small circle of cardstock.
** Tie a knot in the end of ribbon and adhere to center of circle with hot glue.
**  Twist and adhere ribbon in small increments as you move around the knot and then continue outward on each ensuing circular row until it is the size you want.  Cut ribbon from spool, adhering about ¼” underneath to the cardstock.  Trim extra cardstock, if necessary.  (Optional:  I often adhere a Gem in the center.   On these, I didn’t.)
*  I made Paper Flowers in 3 sizes using Lavender cardstock and this file – ‘Butterfly ‘n’ Tag221 cf’

**  I cut several each of 3 sizes of the Flower file with my Silhouette CAMEO.  Before removing them from the cardstock on my mat, I stamped them with a Leafy ‘all-over’ stamp and ‘Dusty Concord’ Distress Ink to give the plain cardstock some interest.  After removing the pieces from the mat, I gently inked the edges with the same ink.
**  Using my hand embosser and on a foam piece, I embossed the back side edges of the flowers.  I then turned them right side up and embossed the center, moving in small circular motions to make the petals rise up.
** For the largest flower, I glued 2 of each of the 3 (small medium, large) sizes together, alternating where the petals are.  Then I glued the 3 sections together, alternating where the petals lay.  For the medium flower, I used the medium and small sizes and the same routine of gluing.  For the smallest flower, I just used 2 of the smallest size.  I added Pearl Gems to the centers of each flower.
**  I raised up the largest flower using 3 stacked PopDots to give the spray depth and then nestled the other flowers and leaves around it.

*  I punched tiny Aubergine flowers with my MS punch (large and small ones on the same punch) and hand embossed them , also, and adhered them in 2 sizes – (1 large and 1 small together and then 2 small together).  I added tiny Pearl Gems to the centers.
*  I cut tiny flowers from Vellum using this file – embossed the centers and added Dark Purple Gems to the centers – Flower ‘n’Branch 918 cf’

*  I punched Leaf Branches and Pine Branches using 2 MS punches from Sage cardstock and Olive patterned wallpaper.  I ‘filled in’ with these.
*  I added Gems to the 4 points of the frame.

*  I cut a Lavender Butterfly and Vellum ‘base’ using the Butterfly ‘n’ Tag 221 cf’  (see above).  I inked the edges with the Dusty Concord ink, bent the wings up and added Pearl and Purple Gems for the body.

*  I added a Cream Sheer Ribbon to the hole I punched in the top.

*  I adhered the piece of Lavender cardstock that was cut from the frame to the back; to stamp a sentiment, write a note and sign it when I give it away.

Variations on a Theme...

The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing of birds is come,
and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.
Song of Solomon  2:12

Recently I happened to pick up the stamp featured here On Sale.  Flowers – specifically Sterling Roses – are ‘special’ to me.  With the last name of ‘Blossom,’ it seems appropriate, wouldn’t you say?!  This stamp caught my eye and I thought it would be fun to use it in a variety of ways.  I’m sharing some of these with you here –

Sterling Rose

First, I made these 3 ‘any occasion’ cards.  I cut the frame for them with my Cricut/SCAL2.

Then I made 2 other cards using a different frame cut with my Cricut/ SCAL2.  The cardstock is light gray.  The frames are black, and on the second one I inked it with silver, as well as the edges of the card.  I stamped the first light lavender inset with Dusty Concord (Tim Holtz /Distress Ink), then without reapplying ink, I stamped the second inset – which made it fairly faint.  I then stamped it with Silver (Color Box).  I added gems (Recollections) on each of the frames.  These will be used as Sympathy Cards, which I unfortunately need at this time for the families of friends who recently passed away.

I decided to experiment with the stamp, some inks and some Glimmer Mist sprays.  Here are some of the combinations I came up with –

I stamped with Light Lavender ink (Studio G), sprinkled with Light Lavender embossing powder and heat embossed.  Then I inked faintly with a slightly Darker Lavender ink.

I stamped with Fired Brick (TH/DI), then spritzed with Burgundy Glimmer Mist and then with Gold Mist.

I stamped with Tea Dye (TH/DI) and then with Dusty Concord (TH/DI).  I spritzed with Deep Violet Glimmer Mist.  NOTE:  The spray ‘blotched’ more than I liked…so…I added a bouquet of mini-flowers with leaves made from brown-ish daisy petals and gem (Recollections) centers.    ;-}

I stamped with Bronze (Color Box) ink, sprinkled with Bronze embossing powder, heat-set it, and then lightly inked it with Tea Dye and Crushed Olive (TH/DI).

I stamped with Dusty Concord (TH/DI), then spritzed with Deep Violet Glimmer Spray, then Silver.

I stamped with Fired Brick (TH/DI), spritzed with burgundy, then silver Glimmer Mists.  I made a flower with 2 petals from a hyacinth blossom and added a pearl center.  I made leaves from petals of another flower.

My flowers all come from the ‘$ Store.’  The gems are from Michaels – on sale.  I’m quite a Thrifty Scrapper in all I do.  How do You make beauty from very little  - adding 'An Elegant Touch…' to all that You do?...
