My Tears in Your Bottle - Psalm 56:8

You keep track of all my sorrows.
    You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
    You have recorded each one in your book.
Psalm 56 : 8   (NLT version)

Hello!  How is YOUR summer going?  Summer brings lots of changes for many people and there are changes in the schedule on www.mypapercrafting.com, so I’ll be posting with other Design Team members once a week – either on a Wednesday or a Thursday – through the next couple of months.  Melin has been working hard and has come up with Many new files for us to showcase for you.  I hope you’ll see what I come up with each week!

This week I chose to do ‘my take’ on the numerous examples of Repurposed Bottles that are frequently seen on Pinterest and Online.  I was quite taken by a black Olive Oil bottle that I recently emptied and I decided to decorate it in keeping with a verse I have quoted often recently and which is quite relevant to my life at this time.

I used the 'WaterBottle Treat Holders cf’ and the 'Blue–White Flowers ds’ (which I printed in grayscale) from MyPaperCrafting.com  to make a pouch to hold the verse Tag.  I made ‘lace trim’ from Bible pages and ribbon.  I attached clear ‘teardrop’ shapes with Glossy Accents.

Here are the files I used –

Thinking of You Step Card - Vintage Furniture!

I lift my eyes toward the mountains.
Where will my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 121 : 1-2

This week I made a Step Card using two MPC files – the Vintage Table and Chair cf and the Thinking of You 531 ds -  I was excited when I first saw the file several weeks ago and have been anxious to make and share a card using it!  The room scene is patterned after what used to be my home décor.  I have Early Victorian furniture much like this table and chair and my color scheme was similar to this.

I used a photo of a lake and mountain scene for the view from the window and as inspiration for the Verse above.  I added lace for the curtains.

The walls are real wallpaper and a chair-rail of white.  The Table and Chair are 2 tones of brown cardstock layered and an olive green seat added.  I created a vase and added tiny white flower buds.  I printed the sentiment and cut it with a Spellbinders die.

Flower Pot Shaped Card - Happy Birthday!

Dear Friend, I pray that you are doing well in every way.
I pray that your body is strong and well even as your soul is.
3 John 1 : 2

This week I decided to use one of Melin’s several Shape Cards – the Flower Pot Shape Card cf’ – and also use the Happy Birthday ds’ sentiment from a new set.  I made a lovely summer bouquet in a pot for a Dear Friend’s birthday coming up.

I cut the base card and the separate pot and rim from ‘clay’ rust cardstock.  I cut the lace trim from beige cardstock.  I lightly inked the edges of all with dark rust ink.  I adhered them with foam squares for dimension.  I cut the flowers from 4 different shades/patterns of lavender cardstock and shaped them on the backside with my hand embosser.  I added gems to their centers. I adhered them with the foam squares, also.  I punched (MS) leaves and interspersed them among the blossoms.

I printed the inside sentiment from my PSE 10 program and changed the color to ‘clay’ rust.  I then cut it with a Spellbinders die and adhered it with foam squares.

One shoe can change your life!

...Just ask Cinderella!!  ;-]

Your desire to tell the good news about peace
should be like SHOES on your feet.
Ephesians 6 : 15

Hello and Welcome!  I’m excited to be doing this, my sixth post in conjunction with a group I recently connected with after I began using my new-last-summer Silhouette CAMEO cutting machine.  It’s a monthly post to showcase projects that members of the Silhouette Challenge Group have made using these wonderful machines.  You'll find a list at the end here of those who are participating this month, so you can visit them, also!

For this month’s project, I made a lady’s 3D High Heeled Shoe to go with the Clutch I made a few weeks ago in connection with ‘SVGcuts.com Giveaway and Post’ for this week.  It’s now the second time they’ve offered this – and the second time I’ve joined in the fun!  They offer a cutting file for free – we make the project and post – they send us a Coupon for a FREE Set of files! Terrific!

Here are photos of my previous - and now this project.  I thought I’d ‘make a set’ – for a modern Cinderella, of course!  The shoe is not a Glass slipper, but there is only one at this point – and it would take ‘just the right lady’ to wear it properly…and Elegantly…  (MY hand is raised!!)  I admit it.  Shoes are one of my weaknesses.  Perhaps it stems from childhood when I had to wear ‘special order shoes that tied,’ so they would stay on my extremely narrow feet – when others around me could wear loafers and other types of cute slip-ons.  I love ‘especially elegant’ high heels and usually wear heels ALL of the time in some form or another…  When I saw this File, I was ecstatic and anxious to get and make it!  This Giveaway was the perfect opportunity -

I made them in ‘my signature colors’ – Lavender, Black and White.  It was suggested that one make the Base of the shoe in a similar color to the exterior pieces to blend them together.  I decided to make them in contrasting colors for a more dramatic effect.  I used hand-written stitching on white and then added black satin ribbon, also, to coordinate the items.

I’ll plan to use both items as ‘props’ when I do Cookie Lee Jewelry Parties – showing off some of the lovely jewelry with them – and showing what can be done with ‘just paper!’  ;-}

Here are the files used for these projects –

Let Your Light So Shine! Lever Card

Send me your LIGHT and your faithful care;
 let them lead me…
Psalm 43: 3a

This week I decided to use one of the several Paper Lace cutting files that Melin has made – the ‘Lighthouse Paper Lace cf.’  Recently, I made a card featuring the Cornflowers that used to grow in profusion along the Michigan highways  and which I enjoyed seeing on the drive from where I lived in Grand Rapids to where I spent many happy summer days with Dear Friends on Lake Michigan between Holland and Grand Haven.  One precious memory is of taking long walks on the beach and seeing the Lighthouse at the end of the Pier.  So here’s another card dedicated to Memories of Michigan – combined with memories of Dear Newer Friends here in California and their hospitality to me. After a visit with them recently, I made this Thank You card for them.

When I stay at the home of Dear Friends of mine, it’s a lovely Guest Room that awaits and envelopes me there.  It is decorated in a Nautical Theme and even has a ‘white noise machine’ that simulates waves crashing to soothe one to sleep and block out other sounds during the night.

Our sons attended the US Naval Academy (2005) and that’s how we met – at a USNA Parents Dinner in 2001.  Both of our sons went into the Marines upon graduation, and as they have moved on and around the world, Susi and I have grown together in our friendship.  We don’t get to visit often (although we do ‘burn the phone lines’ constantly), but it’s such a treat when we do!

The Lighthouse not only reminds me of my friends’ gracious hospitality and Our Boys’ days at the USNA, but also of my childhood in Michigan and our constant visits to the Holland/Ottawa Beach in the summers.  The family of my girlfriend since first grade, another Special Friend, had a cottage near there and some of the happiest days of my childhood were spent there on the beach!  I can still feel the warm sand on bare feet, the hot sun on bare skin, the refreshingly cool Lake Michigan waves lapping along the edges of the beach…  I can hear the foghorn on the Lighthouse pier, guiding boats into and through the channel…

Ahhhhh…  I’m ‘back there’…for the moment…  (I wish I’d known that Melin was living ‘that close,’ too – as we might have visited ‘ back then’…  Who knew!!??)   ;-}

This Lever Card features the Lighthouse and a quote by Dwight L. Moody – another ‘connection’ in my life from ‘back when’…

“We are told to let our light shine and if it does,
we won't need to tell anybody it does.
Lighthouses don't fire cannons to call attention
 to their shining - they just shine.”

Here is the file I used -
My Friends – both Old and New - definitely SHINE here on earth!  (I hope to, also…)
Who has been a Shining Lighthouse in YOUR life?

Lattice Fence Gate-Morning Prayer Card

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
    for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
    for to you I entrust my life.
Psalm 143 : 8

This week I decided to use one of the newer cut files that Melin has made, the ‘Fence Lattice Panels-Border CF’ – and make a Double Side Step Card to illustrate a quiet morning ‘walk and talk with God’ in the forest…  I used to live where this was possible (on Mt. Diablo in mid-California) and I really miss being able to walk out my door, through the gate and into the woods, so to speak.

The stillness of the forest waking up – birds beginning to sing – squirrels skittering among the fallen leaves – water quietly flowing in the creek – the smell of pine and eucalyptus – only two of us ‘walking and talking’ – God and me -

I looked long and hard Online (Pinterest) for just the right photo of morning sunrise, finding several which I’ll use at other times and finally deciding on this one for this card.  Then, using my PSE 10 program, I added the above-stated verse in yellow to the bottom of the photo and printed it to fit in the center of the card.  I used the colors from the photo to make the card (sage cardstock), the front dark green panels, the dark brown gates and the flower spray ‘on the path to the woods.’  I dry embossed the front dark green panels using my Cuttlebug and then lightly added Gold ink on the swirls.  I matted the photo on sunshine yellow cardstock.
