'Welcome! Ainslee Rose' - Butterfly Easel Birth Card

May your father and mother rejoice;
may she who gave you BIRTH be joyful!
Proverbs 23 : 25

Welcome to the LAST Digi Desserts Fridaze in connection with My Paper Crafting  for the summer!    We, on the Design Team, are to create a project using a Digital File from the vast selection at MyPaperCrafting.com every Friday, share them with You and encourage You to visit over there, get the FREE Digi File for today, make a project with it and link it for all to see.  Melin has changed things for the summer months, so check on her site to see what’s going on - but this will be the last one of these for a while.  See below and on her site for info as to when we will be posting more Design Team items.

For this week’s project I made a card to send to my Nephew and Niece – to welcome their baby that was born on Wednesday!  She, Ainslee Rose, joins a ‘big brother (4) and sister (2)’ and they are all excited to have her!  They are in MI, so I’ve no idea when I’ll see any of them, but I’m Very Grateful to FB for allowing me to ‘keep tabs on all my Dear Families’ all over America!

Here it is – with notes to follow –

I chose Melin’s ‘Butterfly Shaped Card cf’ for the base and cut several layers from white cardstock and inked all edges in mauve-pink to match the printed layer that I also cut.  The pinks are actually much softer than they look in the photos - a very pale mauve-pink.  I designed my own version of an Easel Card, as I went along, so that all of the elements I wanted to include would all fit and work together.

I adhered only the ‘body’ of the flourished butterfly to the front piece, so that the wings were ’free to float.’  I used tiny pink Roses as the body.  I adhered a few tiny pearls to the wings.

I printed the Vintage File of the ‘Angel Looking  Down vg(This week’s FREE file at MPC)  – which I thought was appropriate to include for this tiny newborn ‘angel.’  I used the Coolwash file and then played with the color settings in PSE 10 to get it to be a bit pinkish to go with the print paper and roses.  I used a Spellbinders die to cut the top and bottom of it – and a print paper to mount it on.  I adhered them as the ‘prop’ with foam pads.

I printed the inside sentiment in my PSE 10 program and tried to print in a color to match the print paper.  It took several tries and finally decided this was ‘close enough,’ although not exact.  I ripped and inked the edges of the sentiment and adhered it to the bottom layer – under the ‘prop’ layer.  I decided to print the Verse that I had found – after taking the initial photos – and mount it on the inside of the card – above the sentiment.  I took more photos and have now included it here.

Before I included the Verse -
The Verse is included -
I will make a ‘box envelope’ in which to place it for mailing, so it doesn’t get squashed.   (I decided to make one today and have included the photo of it here now…  It is in ‘my Signature Colors.')

I’m excited to let them know of my excitement for them!  The birth of a child is the Most Wondrous thing!!

Tag: Anything Goes! - Patriotic Tag

If you fully obey the Lord your God
and carefully follow all his commands I give you today,
the Lord your God will set you high above
 all the nations on earth.
All these blessings will come on you and
accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:
You will be blessed in the city
 and blessed in THE COUNTRY.
Deuteronomy 28 : 1-3

Welcome to Thursday Totally Tags ‘n’ ATCs in conjunction with MyPaperCrafting.com!  Every Thursday we on the Design Team do a team post featuring Tags n' ATC's.  We have a specific Theme each week featuring an element, technique or embellishment.  We all come up with something excitingly different – using various types of tools, etc. to create our projects...i.e., Cricut, CAMEO, Spellbinders, punches, stamps, paint, material, lace, inks, etc.   The sky's the limit!  The only restriction...  If we use SVG's or Digi's, we will only use those from the vast selection at PCW.  There are some changes coming for the next few summer months, so please keep track of things by visiting Melin’s blog – and checking back here often.  I’ll let You know, when I know how things will work out.  Actually, at this point, this will be the last Tags ‘n’ ATCs until further notice – at least for the summer.   I’ll continue to post something regularly, so don’t think that I’m stopping – just that the MPC Design Team is ‘backing off’ for a while…

The Theme for this week’s projects is ANYTHING GOES!  The freedom to do whatever one wants to do may be a blessing – or a frustration – depending on how long it takes to decide on what to do!  Since our Independence Day Celebration is near, I decided to do a tag with that in mind.  With my son being a Marine Captain, I am always partial to making things with a patriotic or military design.  I couldn’t resist including my ‘signature Blossoms’ and a little Bling here and there.  If he thinks it’s ‘too feminine’ for him, I think he might know of Someone who might appreciate it…  *giggle-smile*

Here it is:

Close-up of floral spray

Close-up of Star
I cut a white cardstock base using a Spellbinders die.  I added a piece of Star Embossed navy cardstock and some red and white striped paper.  I added a half of a white round doily Spellbinders die cut.  I punched navy (MS) leaves and branches for the floral spray base.  I added navy, red and white flowers and gems.  I added a tiny white (MS) punched butterfly at the top.  I added a white punched star (Creative Memories) to the top right of the tag and added a circlet of rhinestones on it…reminiscent of the original 13-star flag made by Betsy Ross!  I added a striped ribbon to the top – so that it could be hung – on a bottle or a gift or some place in Someone’s home…

Post-it Note and Mini Pad Covers

Yet He took NOTE of their distress
when He heard their cry –
Psalm 106 : 44

My dear brothers and sisters, take NOTE of this:
everyone should be quick to listen,
slow to speak and slow to become angry…
James 1 : 19

For this week’s project I made 2 items.  One is a Post-it Cover and the other is a Mini Pad Cover.  Quite often, one needs ‘just a little something’ Gift for someone – a quick ‘Thank You’ or ‘Thinking of You’ or …???  I have made several of these in many colors and they have been received well.  The original pattern is for the Post-it size and I just enlarged it to fit the Mini Pad.  I show them with a regular size pen, but often one can find shortened pens, which are cuter to use with these.

I used Melin’s ‘Baby’s Breath vg’ on the Post-it Cover.

I used her ‘Spring Bunch vg’ on the Mini Pad Cover.

After printing the Digis, I chose pads, paper and ink colors which coordinated with each of them. I framed each Digi with a Spellbinders die cut frame, of which I inked the edges.

Tag: SUN! 'You are the Sunshine of my life!'

This is what the Lord says to me:
“I will remain quiet and will look on

from my dwelling place,
like shimmering heat in the SUNSHINE,
like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”
Isaiah 18 : 4

The Theme for this week’s projects is SUN!  Rather than using an actual sun, I chose to use one of Melin’s lovely cut files of a Sunflower to depict the sun in a faintly cloud-kissed blue sky and I incorporated the song lyrics from a favorite Oldies tune.  I also made a Tag for the Tag, so it’s a ‘2-for-1’ Tag day!

I cut the Tag from light blue cardstock.  I inked the edges with a darker blue ink and then with gold.  I faintly inked with silver ink some scattered clouds.  I cut the Sunflower from deep golden yellow cardstock, inked lightly with brown and then gold inks.  I hand-embossed the petals to shape them for dimension, adhering them alternately with pop-dots to give more dimension.  I added a brown gem to the brown center.  I inked the green leaves with gold ink.  I typed and printed the lyric sentiment from my PSE 10 program onto cream cardstock.  I punched it out with my Tag punch.  I lightly inked it with gold ink and the edges with brown and then gold inks.  I attached it to the Tag with a brown gem brad. I added a brown ribbon loop to the top.

My 'Cookie Lee' Jewelry Clipboards!

There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth:
A right time for birth and another for death,
A right time to plant and another to reap,
A right time to kill and another to heal,
A right time to destroy and another to construct,
A right time to cry and another to laugh,
A right time to lament and another to cheer,
A right time to make love and another to abstain,
A right time to embrace and another to part,
A right time to search and another to count your losses,
A right time to hold on and another to let go,
A right time to rip out and another to mend,
A right time to shut up and another to speak up,
A right time to love and another to hate,
A right time to wage war and another to make peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Welcome to our 2013 Die Cut Tuesday New Release and Link Up over at www.MyPaperCrafting.com !  Be sure and pop over there and see what Melin and our other Designers have set up for this – our last Tuesday Showcase for a while – and the FREE New Release for today.  Melin has decided to suspend our ‘regular schedule’ for the summer, at least, for her Personal Reasons.  This week will be the last of our ‘regular Tuesday posts in conjunction with her blog’ for a while.  I will continue to create projects and post here several times weekly and we’ll all see what our schedules hold later this fall, as to whether and how we continue together.  We may do some ‘special posts’ at various times through the summer, so be sure to check back often.

For today’s post I made 2 items which are representative of some Changes in My Life, too!  I have recently decided to add being a ‘Cookie Lee’ Jewelry Consultant to my ‘List-of-things-I-do-to-support-myself’!  In setting things up here to be ready for holding Parties, I decided to decorate some $$ Store Clipboards to use.  The Small one is to hold the Opportunity Slips used for Drawings and collecting Info.  The Large one is for me to use for my Notes and writing up Orders.   I used papers in the ‘Cookie Lee’ company color scheme – Hot Pink and Black – and some of Melin’s lovely, lacey cutting files which I Mod-Podged (my homemade version!) to make them sturdily useful.

Before -

After!

I first painted the clipboards with Black acrylic paint.  I then adhered the base papers with ‘my Mod-Podge.’  For the Small one, I used a Hot Pink flourished print, distressed the edges and then inked them with Black ink.  I added an element in black from the ‘Flourished Baroque Elements 2 cf’ to the bottom.  I adhered 2 Black Gems to cover the 'screw holes' at the top.

Back side of each -

For the Large one, I adhered a Black paisley print.  Then I cut 3 sections of border trim in Hot Pink paisley print from the ‘Elements Deco 13 cf.’  I added several coats of my Mod-Podge on each one, letting them dry thoroughly in between.  I adhered 2 Pink Gems to cover the 'screw holes' at the top.

I had thought of adding the ‘Cookie Lee’ logo to them, but decided against it, for ‘time’s sake.’  Then – after taking the photos - I discovered the ‘logo template’ in my New Recruit pack, so I have included them via PSE 10 for the photos -  and I will print little labels for the Clipboards soon.  ;-}
