Birthday Wishes - Psalm 91:14-16

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
Psalm 91 : 14-16

Welcome to Digi Desserts Fridaze in connection with My Paper Crafting !    We, on the Design Team, are to create a project using a Digital File from the vast selection at MyPaperCrafting.com every Friday, share them with You and encourage You to visit over there, get the FREE Digi File for today, make a project with it and link it for all to see.  The ‘winning’ designer is highlighted next week as a Guest Designer!   It’s an easy and fun thing to do on the weekend!

For this week’s project I made a Birthday Card using the Bible Verse sentiment from MPC that I had used several weeks ago on another ‘manly’ card.  The meaning of it holds true for many whom I know and will be pertinent for the person for whom I made this card.  I made this one somewhat rustic, but as it’s been a LONG winter in the Midwest, I wanted to add and send a bit of Spring.  Along with a piece of inked corrugated cardboard and a scrap of woven wallpaper, I included a tree with flowering blossoms, ripped grass by the picket fence and bushes and a butterfly.  I also used a Color Inspiration Chart for my color combination.  Here it is –
Pear Tones
Here is the card -

Standing slightly open -

A butterfly representing New Beginnings/Changed Life -

A blossom on each 'curly-Q' on the tree -

Tag: Plant Life - Tulips'n'Flourish Tag

Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime;
it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms.
He gives showers of rain to all people,
and PLANTS of the field to everyone.
Zechariah 10 : 1

Welcome to Thursday Totally Tags ‘n’ ATCs over at MyPaperCrafting.com!  Every Thursday we on the Design Team will do a team post featuring Tags n' ATC's.  We will have a specific Theme each week featuring an element, technique or embellishment.  We’ll all come up with something excitingly different – using various types of tools, etc. to create our projects...i.e., Cricut, CAMEO, Spellbinders, punches, stamps, paint, material, lace, inks, etc.   The sky's the limit!  The only restriction...  If we use SVG's or Digi's, we will only use those from the vast selection at PCW.

Spring is a time of "new beginnings" and we love to see things "take root, blossom and grow”....so, we decided it was a good time to announce some changes to our Challenges and Link Ups.  Here is the link to Melin’s explanation of how things will work now.  Be sure to pop over there and be included in the creative fun!    http://www.mypapercrafting.com/2013/04/aprilprizes.html

The Theme for this week’s projects is Plant Life.   I had several ideas in mind when I began thinking about it and met with several ‘roadblocks’ as I planned and designed.  Therefore, this finished item is not what I initially envisioned, but I think it finally tuned out!  Some days are just like that.  It could be used for a variety of situations and there is room for a sentiment and personal note on the back of it.  It reminds me of the numerous Tulips in my yard of my Michigan-home-of-long-ago and my Dutch heritage.  It will be Tulip Festival very soon back there and it’s a beautiful time of year!

Here it is –

This is the cutting file I used from MyPaperCrafting.com‘Tulip Flourish 5 Set cf’

*  I put the file in my SCAL3 program to cut with my CAMEO.  I made a Shadow of the Flourish frame piece and then deleted the cutout sections to make the base, cutting it from Olive cardstock.  I cut the flourish piece from Olive ‘mottled’ cardstock.  I cut the ‘stem piece’ from Olive cardstock.

*  I cut the bottom section of the Tulip blooms from Lavender ‘mottled’ cardstock and the top section from light Lavender cardstock.  I put the blooms together and also the stem piece onto the flourish with PopDots.

*  I added dark green gems to the stem piece, light green gems to the flourish piece and lavender gems to the blooms and side of the flourish.

*  I added a Lavender plaid ribbon to the hole I punched at the top.

A Mother's Day Card -

The man called his wife's name Eve,
because she was the MOTHER of all living.
Genesis 3 : 20

Welcome to our 2013 Die Cut Tuesday New Release and Link Up over at www.MyPaperCrafting.com !  Be sure and pop over there and see what Melin and our other Designers have set up for this Showcase – and the FREE New Release for today.

For today’s project I made a Mother’s Day Card.  A friend of mine has asked me to make several for her to give to Special Women in her life and also, although my mother is not alive, there are some women who have been Very Special in my life and I will make some for them.

I found a poem Online and decided to use its words as design elements for this one.  I used the ‘BG Flourish ‘n’ Card Set cf’ and the ‘Butterfly ‘n’ Tag 221 cf’.  I incorporated the ‘dew-dropped flowers,’ purple clover and butterflies – all with pale, spring colors.

*  I punched 2 different borders and connected them with a band of ribbon.

*  I cut the Flourish from patterned paper to give it some interest.

*  I inked the edges of the flowers and then added Glossy Accents to simulate dew-drops.

*  I inked the edges of the butterfly and added pearls for the body.

*  I adhered the poem with PopDots to raise it up on the inside to fit into the oval I cut from the front.

*  I printed the front sentiment and punched it with a scalloped square and then inked the edges.

Here are the cutting files I used for this card –

'Home is Where the Heart is' Gatefold Card

Even the sparrow finds a HOME,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may lay her young, at your altars,
O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.
Psalm 84 : 3

For this week’s project I made a gatefold card for Some Dear Ones to me who have moved recently into a new apartment.  I thought that Melin’s ‘Home Where Heart DS’ was perfect to express my love and happiness for them.  Here is the card –

*  I put the file in my Perfect Effects Free program and used the Earth Action on it, which gives a mottled effect and more interest than plain flat color.

*  I cut the card base from light green cardstock and embossed it with the Woodgrain folder, which I had inked with Rust ink.

*  I had the ‘negative’ of a shape I’d cut for something in the rust color of the roof and base.  I trimmed it to fit the front of the card I cut some light green/white heart print paper for the backdrop, adhered under the rust ‘negative’ cut and adhered the birdhouse on it.   I trimmed the sentiment an adhered it in three places.  I added heart=shaped and round gems.  I adhered the panel to the left gatefold side.  I added corner punched pieces and gems to three corners.

*  I printed the inside sentiment, “Welcome to Your New Home!” on white cardstock, cut it into a heart shape with my Heart Colluzzle, and mounted it on pink wallpaper and rust cardstock hearts – all cut with my Colluzzle.

Here is the Digi File I used -

Tag: Twine - Thank You SEW very much!

And all the craftsmen among the workmen made the tabernacle with ten curtains.
They were made of fine TWINEd linen and blue and purple and scarlet yarns,
 with cherubim skillfully worked.
Exodus 36 : 8

The Theme for this week’s projects is TWINE!  As I have been sewing since I was about 9 – back in the Pre-Paleolithic Era ! – I thought I’d use that aspect in combination with my paper-crafting this week.  I made a ‘spool of thread’ Tag – with the Twine representing the thread.  Here it is –

*  I cut two of the spool shape .svg from cream parchment cardstock, a file which I’ve had for ages and I don’t know from whence it came.  I wrapped Taupe/WhiteTwine around one piece and then adhered the other piece to the back of it, so there is a place to write a note on the back.

*  I used the ‘5 pt. Flower’ from the MPC ‘Birdcage and Flower set cf’ for the focal point flower.  It’s cut from cream cardstock and the edges were inked in light blue.  The center is dark brown (Daisy Punch) with a gold brad.

*  I made a beige Rolled Rose from lace hem binding and added a light blue gem to the center.

*  The flowers are laid on a bed of (MS) punched leaves and branches cut from hunter green/white polka dot paper.

*  I printed the sentiment in dark brown on light blue cardstock – using the ‘Heart Sweet Heart’ font (Cross-stitch).  I used ‘Thank You SEW very much!’  Other choices I had in my list of possibilities were:
**  You are SEW thoughtful!
**  I am SEW Thankful for You!
**  I love You SEW much!

*  I added some strands of the twine in the hole of the spool and tied them.

Flower Girl Birthday Wishes

Look how the wild FLOWERS grow:
they don't work or make clothes for themselves.
But I tell you that not even King Solomon with all his wealth
had clothes as beautiful as one of these FLOWERS.
Luke 12 : 27

For this week’s project I made a Birthday Card using the Free Digi from last week – ‘Flower Girl ds’ .   I also used a Color Inspiration chart with this project.  I didn’t have the exact colors on it, but used the closest ones I had which matched the printed copy of the Flower Girl.  Here are photos of them.

Here is the card  -

*  The card base is sage parchment cardstock.  I made an Easel-type card, which can stand propped open.
 *  I put the digital file into my Perfect Free program and used the Dreamland action on it, which just softened the effect a bit.  I printed the file on white cardstock in PSE 10.  I cut a frame to fit around it in light orange cardstock.  I made a Shadow (SCAL3/Silhouette CAMEO) and cut it from light yellow cardstock.

 *  I punched leaves and ‘pine’ branches from dark green and cream tiny polka-dot papers - and daisy petals from white cardstock. (MS punches)

*  I added a bow of sheer yellow ribbon and Gems to the corners and daisy centers.

*  I used the oval that was cut from the frame center and stamped the ‘Birthday Wishes’ sentiment for the inside on it.
