Hallowe'en Wreath !

The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders;
where morning dawns, where EVENING fades, you call forth songs of joy.
Psalm 65 : 8

Hello and Welcome to our Smorgasbord Saturdays posting in connection with Cooking with Cricut / Paper Crafting World!  The emphasis of is to invite us as Design Team Members – and You as Followers – to come up with unusual/inspiring/creative projects that are ‘out of the box,’ so to speak – and hopefully, Out of This World!  I am personally looking forward to seeing what we All will come up with, as MY brain is always on fire and I see everything as ‘something else.’  I look forward to seeing this Creative Corner every other Saturday this Autumn!

Although today is World Card-making Day  (!!!)), my project for today is not a card, it’s a Hallowe’en Wreath!  Here’s the photo – and the Recipe and more photos follow –

I’ve never been a fan of the scary, gruesome aspects of Halloween, but when my children were young, since I do like to ‘dress up in costume,’ we dressed as storybook characters for Halloween.  I also decorated just a bit and have come to like the current color inspiration often used for Halloween décor – contrasting the Black with complimentary shades of Orange, Lavender and Olive Green.   I picked up a Black Wreath on Clearance after Halloween last year, planning to use it as kitchen décor in my ‘someday Black and White Kitchen.’  I decided to use it for this project and have used cutting files from CWC/PCW to decorate it.

Ingredients:

*  Black ‘wire pine’ wreath
*  Cardstock, various papers and tea-dyed book pages for the pumpkin, vine and flowers
*  Round lime colored ‘gems’ for flower centers
*  Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Black, Violet, Silver – and dauber
*  Hot glue gun and other adhesives
*  Various flower blossoms and leaves from Dollar Store stems

Directions:

Using the PumpkinsCorner Vine file, I cut the vine twice and intertwined it with the 2-layer large pumpkin (which I’d ‘reverse- embossed’ by hand using an embossing tool on a piece of foam on my work surface – to make it more 3D).  I then added some whimsical flowers that I made from various papers and cardstock using the Flower 'n' Branch 918 cutting file and also a few Dollar Store blossoms and leaves.

To make my whimsical flowers, I cut several sizes of patterned paper, cardstock and tea-dyed book pages using the Flower 'n' Branch 918 file.  I inked the edges of all.  I layered them, gluing them with my glue gun.  I punched several Daisy-style punches of silver cardstock and then layered and adhered those as ‘stamens.’  I adhered Recollections round gems to the centers.  I spritzed the flowers with water to blend the inks and to make it easier to shape, roll and crinkle the edges of the petals.

Here are the two files I used on this project -

 Now it’s YOUR turn to create and then link to CWC/PCW!  Let’s see what you come up with using Melin’s files and Your imagination!  She is also offering a FREE digi file this week, so be sure and get that, too!

 She is also offering a 40% Sale on files purchased in October!  ;-}

 We look forward to seeing your creations – Come visit again on Terrific Tuesday !  I’m off to make some cards now for World Card-making Day – Are you going to make some, too!??  ;-}
