Tag 'Texture' - In Your Easter Bonnet!

Don’t be conformed to the PATTERNS of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your minds
so that you can figure out what God’s will is—
what is good and pleasing and mature.
Romans 12 : 2

Welcome to the recently added Thursday Totally Tags ‘n’ ATCs over at MyPaperCrafting.com!  Every Thursday we on the Design Team will begin doing a team post featuring Tags n' ATC's.  We will have a specific Theme each week featuring an element, technique or embellishment.  We’ll all come up with something excitingly different – using various types of tools, etc. to create our projects...i.e., Cricut, CAMEO, Spellbinders, punches, stamps, paint, material, lace, inks, etc.   The sky's the limit!  The only restriction...  If we use SVG's or Digi's, we will only use those from the vast selection at PCW.

The Theme for this week’s projects is ‘Texture.’  That’s a pretty wide-open scope and you will see that when you visit the other blogs as well.  I don’t know about you and how your creativity works, but I usually start with an idea, then a sketch, then I gather all of the expected elements and begin working on the project.  Invariably, as I go along, the basic idea may stay the same, but the elements often change quite a bit – sometimes things are deleted – sometimes I add things – sometimes the end project looks quite different than the original idea I had.  Surprise!  ;-]

Here is my Tag for this week, with the ‘creating information’ following –

*  I recently saw online the idea of dying white lace and material with Avocado skins (boiled in water to give off the color) – making them a pale peachy/mauve color.  I did this with some ***lace and ribbon and decided to use them on this project, so the next step was to decide on papers.  I chose a light peach and Kraft papers.  I had the ‘negative space’ left from a recent project using the ‘3D Bow ‘n’ OvalFrame Set,’ so I chose to use that as a ‘frame’ for something.  I ‘hand-embossed’ it from the back side to make it a bit rounded and I distressed the edge with a tool I got at the $$ Store – a ‘heel file’ – as was suggested on a craft session on a TV program recently.  I inked it all lightly.  Texture.    (***  I also dyed eggshells - for another day!)

*  I could hear the strains of "In Your Easter Bonnet" when I found a ‘cameo-type’ image online, and using my SCAL3 and CAMEO, I sized and cut it to fit into the frame.  I inked the edges with Copper ink (as well as al the other pieces used).  I adhered a tiny flower-button to the bodice of the silhouette.  I added a piece of the fragile ribbon, a small flower I made using the pattern from the Tag ‘n’ Butterfly cf and a ‘hatpin.’  (a long pearlhead quilting pin)  I so miss the days gone by when I wore lovely, large hats to church on Sunday mornings, anchored with antique hatpins that I acquired here and there!  *sigh*

*  Using the new ‘Frames 122 Nested cf Set,’ I used 2 of the layers to make the tag and it’s ‘shadow.’    I embossed both layers with different embossing files - Wicker Weave and Butterflies.  Texture.  I lightly inked them both with Copper ink.

*  I adhered the oval frame with tiny PopDots.  I also adhered the Silhouette with PopDots.  I adhered the tiny, delicate, Avocado-dyed lace under the edge of the frame.  Texture.

 *  I cut several sizes of the flower, inked the edges, embossed the edges and the center, adhered them together to make three flowers (and the tiny one for the hat), then added pearls to the centers.  Texture.

*  I cut leaves from some lovely handmade Mulberry Paper I had purchased from ‘The BearyScrap.’  I then water-spritzed them and when they were partially dry, I hand-embossed them on the backside to make them crinkly and brushed the edges to make them fuzzy.   Texture.  I adhered them to the frame and adhered the flowers on them.

*  I adhered tiny pearls to the frame.  I added the ribbon into the hole punched at the top.  Texture.  Ta-Dahhhh!!  ;-}

Here are the MPC files I used here –

I used the 'negative' cut of this frame

Thanks for visiting here today!  I hope you take a few minutes to check all of the Tag/ATC creativeness on the other blogs, too!    Melin should have a Free File for today on her blog, also!  Here it is - just posted -

Be sure to remember MPC for all of your Cutting and Digital files.  Tomorrow is our Digi Dessert Fridaze post, every other Tuesday is a Cutting File post and in between I may post some other projects.   Come back Soon!  ;-]

  1. What a beautiful tag Lynden! I love the cameo and love the textured embossing behind the cameo! Your flowers are so pretty and gives lots of texture! Love the dyed lace, how knew that you could use avocado's to dye things with, very cool! Hugs!

  2. I love cameos, being the proud owner of one that has been passed down at least four generations (though not all in my family--the cameo was a gift to my grandmother from her best friend, whose grandmother had given it to her! Grandmother would be about 114 years old if she were still alive. So, I figure that my cameo is over 300 years old! Wow! I'm going to have to make something like this and create a scrapbook page about my cameo, right?
