The US Marine Corps
motto is:
‘Semper Fidelis’ – Always Faithful
I never forget Your kindness,
and I am ALWAYS FAITHFUL to You.
Psalm 26 : 3
Spring is a time of "new beginnings" and we love
to see things "take root, blossom and grow”....so, we decided it was a
good time to announce some changes to our Challenges and Link Ups. Here is the link to Melin’s explanation
of how things will work now. Be
sure to pop over there and be included in the creative fun! http://www.mypapercrafting.com/2013/04/aprilprizes.html
For today’s project I made a Tri-shutter Card to Congratulate My Son on graduating this week from another ‘level of his professional advancement’ in the Marine Corps.
He is a Marine Capt., having graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy/2005 and has had 3
Deployments prior to this last 10 months of coursework at Quantico. He will do another session of something
else this summer in VA and then I’m not sure of his next assignment. It’s not possible for me to attend the
Ceremony this week, unfortunately, but I wanted to create something to send and
express my Thoughts/Prayers and Love for him.
I created the card using Charcoal Sparkle cardstock. I made the USMC insignia-type medallion
for the front of the card with a base of the ‘Frames 122 Layered cf’ cut from black cardstock inked with Gold, then
layers of Navy Sparkle and Red Sparkle cardstock, topped with a printed ‘wood
replica’ of the USMC Globe and Anchor motif which I fussy-cut and adhered. I embossed the Red and Navy layers with my Star embossing folder and Cuttlebug.
I added Gold braid trim around the underside of the edge of the blue
layer, which I also had inked with Gold ink before I adhered it to the Black
base with large foam PopDots.
I created panels of the Red and Navy Sparkle cardstock and
embossed them with the Star folder.
I printed the verse, ‘Psalm 91:14-16 ds’ in brown on cream parchment cardstock and adhered it to the back panel. I printed the front
sentiment, ‘Congratulations!’ on cream parchment, also, and cut it to be a
banner. I added Gold brads to the
corners of several panels.

Wow, amazing tri-shutter card Lynden! Your son is going to love it! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful Lynden! Congrats on your son's achievements and thank him for his service to this great country! How cool that we have this in common with our sons, my oldest in the Army and he just recently got promoted! He is on his 5th deployment in Afghan and I for one will be happy when he is back with his family. These soldiers are so awesome and I thank them all for all they do!!! Hugs!
