Thursday Totally Tags & ATCs - 'Stitching' Gift Card Tag

There is a time to tear cloth and a time to SEW it.
There is a time to be silent and a time to speak.

Welcome to the recently added Thursday Totally Tags ‘n’ ATCs over at MyPaperCrafting.com!  Every Thursday we on the Design Team will begin doing a team post featuring Tags n' ATC's.  We will have a specific Theme each week featuring an element, technique or embellishment.  We’ll all come up with something excitingly different – using various types of tools, etc. to create our projects...i.e., Cricut, CAMEO, Spellbinders, punches, stamps, paint, material, lace, inks, etc.   The sky's the limit!  The only restriction...  If we use SVG's or Digi's, we will only use those from the vast selection at PCW.

The Theme for this week's projects is ‘Stitching.’  I have made a Gift Card Tag, on the order of one I recently saw on Pinterest, but with my own design totally.  I used the ‘Butterfly 'n' Tag 221 Cutting  File Set’ by Melin, but I also altered that pattern a bit, too, to make this.

While it’s true that I have been sewing since I was 9 years old – back in the Paleolithic Era  (!!) – for several reasons I decided to use Faux-stitching on this project rather than ‘real’ stitching.  I have made many a quilting project through the years, also, and decided to use Quilting as a theme for this project and the stitching that one does for it.  This Tag could be used for any occasion for which someone chooses to give a Gift card to someone – or attach it along with another gift of some sort.

Here it is –

*  I began with the cutting file put into my SCAL3 program (and then cut it with my Silhouette CAMEO).  I sized the file to my desired needs.  I then Copied the inset, moved it, shortened it and welded it to the left side of the base tag, which made the front fold for the tag.  I cut inset pieces for the front and inside two pages.  I used Sage and Brown papers.

*  I punched small squares and made the quilt pattern for the front and inside pocket, which I made on my own to fit a Gift Card and a smaller tag for including a note upon.  I ‘faux-stitched’ with a brown pen.  I punched a Tab and adhered it to the front before adding the insert pieces, for ease in opening the tag.

*  I punched a border lace for the inside page and punched 3 ‘bracket’ shapes to layer and write or stamp a sentiment upon later.

*  I punched leaves, then added small ‘felt’ flowers and gems (Recollections) to make a spray on the inside page.

This is the cutting file I used for the Tag –

  1. Beautiful work, Lynden! I love the faux stitching - - it almost looks real in the photos. You do such a great job with layering and paper pairing...this is far beyond anything I could pull off in the paper crafting arena. Brava!
