I am poured out like water. And
all my bones are out of joint.
My heart is like a melted CANDLE
within me.
Psalm 22 : 14
Welcome to another Smorgasbord Saturday in connection with My Paper Crafting !  We on the
Design Team are challenged to create something with Melin’s cutting or digital
files that is more unusual than the mere cards and layouts that we do so well –
something out of the ordinary – ‘out of the box,’ as is currently an oft-used
term.
My offering for today is ‘out of the box’ – and ‘into the
jar’!  I used the ‘Apple Paper Lace cf’ – to re-purpose (one of my favorite things!) an empty food jar into a Candle Jar!
This would be a lovely addition to an
Autumn table or mantle display and would be a great, quick gift for someone
special or as a Thank You gift.

After washing the jar and using ‘GOO Gone’ to remove the
label and adhesive, I measured and cut with my Cricut two Apple Paper Lace
elements from black cardstock to fit around it and meet with a tiny overlap on
both sides.  I cut a piece of red
tissue paper to fit around the jar and inside the top and bottom edges of the
elements.  I used my ‘Homemade
ModPodge’ to first adhere the tissue paper to the jar – and then each of the
elements – carefully arranging them to overlap slightly at each side.  I applied another coat of ‘HMP’ over it
then, smoothing the little cut parts of the element so they would lay flat.  I hurried the drying process a bit by
using my heat gun – ( a hair dryer would also work.)  I then added red and black ‘Recollections’ gems to the side
seams and top and bottom edges of the elements in each scallop.  I added another coat of ‘HMP’ to the
entire element area to secure the gems well.  I tied a red grosgrain ribbon bow, added a black flower base
and a red rosebud.  I then tied the
bow to the top of the jar with a narrow black ribbon.  I placed a 1 1/2" candle in it.  A tea light or battery light could be used.

Now it’s Your turn to create something unusual with any one
of Melin’s files – then link it over there at My Paper Craft so we all can see!  Be sure to get the FREE file that Melin
also offers this week – a cutting file and a digital file – on her site. Let me
know if you have any questions for me – I look forward to seeing Your
creativity!
